Getting Your House Ready To Sell – Show Notes

Getting your house ready to sell can be the hardest thing a home owner does in the sales process. It is important to have your home presented in the best light to potential buyers.

Here are 7 tips to getting your house ready.

For all the tips to prepare your home for sale, fill out the form to the right.

  1. Approach home preparation from a buyers point of view. Go outside of your home and enter it from a buyers perspective. As a result, you will see issues you may not have noticed. Take notes and write down repairs that should be attacked.
  2. Look for things in non-working order. Items or appliances that are not functioning should be repaired. They are going to come up on an inspection report so you might as well attack them now.
  3. Appeal to the most buyers possible. When picking out paint or carpet colors, use colors that most every one would find livable. Avoid brash colors or out of the ordinary upgrades.
  4. Make your home feel open and spacious. Remove excess furniture and clutter to make your home feel like there is a ton of room. Move unneeded things to the garage or basement.
  5. Make your buyers feel comfortable. Remove personal item so a potential buyer can come in to your home and picture their furniture and their family living there.
  6. Give your buyers a great first impression. Make your front yard neat and orderly. Paint the front door where the buyers may stand and wait to gain entry. First impressions only happen once!
  7. Focus on kitchens and bathrooms. The biggest selling point of a home is always the kitchen and bathroom. Make sure they are presentable by clearing counter tops and spending a little more time on the details in these rooms
